I watched from eight o’clock to Jill Biden, so I missed Joe and the Gaza floor demo.
I have never seen a Gaza protest advocate deal with the threat to Gaza, the West Bank, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen with a Trump victory. Genocide, indeed!
As for the DP, I’m reading of the usual corralling and abuse of the protests outside. This hypocrisy in my recollection has been the rule at every DNC in every liberal-run city through the years. Fuck the police.
The vibe for the future was encouraging, but it always pays to remember it’s just a vibe and this is campaign season, when progressive dreams are allowed to breathe free for a bit. At any rate, the president of the UAW and AOC more than compensated for the subsequent Hillary buzzkill. AOC is quite a speaker. So is Jamie Raskin, who should be writing all the speeches. I’m glad to see his hair is back. Hillary actually delivered her words, such as they were, pretty well.
There has been some idle chatter about AOC’s accommodation to the party. Truth is, there is no other path for her. You can’t beat something (Biden) with nothing. Why be a pain in the arse, to no useful end? If you want to stay in office and get anything done, you have to watch your P’s and Q’s. Just ask Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush.
The abortion stories were powerful. To all the undecided, independent voters, my only comment with the expression below is, “Really? You haven’t figured this shit out yet?”
I did a shift yesterday at a local back to school thing, handing out Harris-Walz-Kaine leaflets. It was hot enough to let me say I have officially sweated for the party. I don’t expect a medal. If everybody does a little, a lot will get done.
I don’t know if I can hold out for the rest of the week. There will be cliché overload at some point.
Radical politics walks a fine line. You want to push the system as far as it will go, but you don't want to push yourself out of relevance, and you certainly don't want to help Trump. AOC can walk that line with grace. The Palestine protestors? I hope they hold off on the campus encampments until November 6. But I doubt they will.
