Jewish Voice for Peace
They’re a little edgy, but not too much for me. I went to their demo on the Mall yesterday. Overwhelmingly 20s and 30-somethings. As usual I left before it was over, as the speeches grew repetitive, and hiked up to Chinatown. Then they went and got 300 people arrested for sitting in at the Cannon House Office Building. Went over well on the local news, the reporter thought he had some kind of man-bites-dog story, Jews protesting against Israel! Who would have thought it??
I would not have chosen to get arrested. I lack the fortitude.
JVP is known for supporting the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions movement (“BDS”). I don’t have a moral problem with it. In the U.S.A., however, there can’t be more than three congressional districts where you can be associated with that and have a prayer of being elected. So, dubious on the plane of tactics.
At any rate, here are some pictures from yesterday.
