I like Shahid and he could do well in SFO, but explicit support for BDS would doom a candidate almost anywhere (except in Rashida Tlaib's district, maybe Omar's). I support BDS myself but I would not make it a condition of voting for anyone. BDS is just a way to take yourself out of real politics. Reducing the defense budget by contrast is an easy one. Most Democrats could support that, at least verbally.
I suspect the vast majority of folks in DSA would agree with your thoughts about how DSA should act. I do.
